Race Season Is Here!

April mean's the start of the season for a lot of different race / endurance sports. Our therapists Phil and Soph are both kicking off this season with some races of their own this Sunday!

Sunday April 27th, Soph is running the Madrid half marathon whilst Phil is racing in the Lydney triathlon (one being slightly more exotic than the other). Both have been training hard in the last few months and are prepped and ready to put a good showing of themselves.

Part of our preparation is looking after our bodies. We both lift weights, do mobility work, and stretch. We are mindful of our sleep and nutrition and we perform treatment for each other every week. We both exchange sports massages and use our state of the art class 4 laser on ourselves. Training for events is rarely a straight line from A to B, we all get injuries, have aches and pains and need to make adjustments to the training plan to make sure we get to the start line in as good a condition as is possible.

We have many athletes through our doors who readily admit to neglecting some of the factors included in maintaining a healthy body. From treatment, to nutrition, to strength and conditioning- there is always something we can do better. At The Sport Clinic we truly believe it is an advantage that we can both speak from a place of experience as well as theoretical knowledge. If you need help in some or all of these areas to help you get to the start line of your race or event - we are here for you. Whether it is a pain and injury appointment to suss out how to keep those niggling injuries away. A sports massage to aid recovery, and stop those niggles in the first place. Training sessions for increased performance and injury prevention. Nutrition to help you get the most out of your body - we have a service for you!

Unsure of what service would suit you best? Contact us today to discuss your goals and requirements and most importantly - enjoy the journey.
